Welcome to Staunton and Corse C of E Primary Academy
Let Your Light Shine
At Staunton and Corse Primary Academy, we are proud to be a Church of England school where everyone is encouraged to let their light shine. We believe that every child is uniquely created, with their own gifts, questions and potential. Our role as a Christian community is to nurture the whole child – spiritually, emotionally, socially and academically – so that they can flourish and grow into confident, compassionate individuals.
Rooted in Christian values and inspired by the words of Jesus, “Let your light shine before others” (Matthew 5:16), our vision underpins everything we do. We aim to create a safe, nurturing and inspiring environment where children feel valued, encouraged and confident to be the very best they can be.
Our Core Christian Values
Our core values were chosen by our school community and are lived out each day through our relationships, learning and collective worship.
Respect
Respect sits at the heart of our school life. Through our words and actions, we promote respect for ourselves, each other, our school and the wider world. We expect all members of our community – both children and adults – to treat one another with kindness, honesty and compassion. Guided by Christian teaching, we encourage forgiveness, friendship, trust and fairness, helping children to understand the importance of living well together.
Encourage
Encouragement is essential for growth and wellbeing. Adults at Staunton and Corse actively encourage pupils to believe in themselves, try new things and persevere when learning feels challenging. We also teach children how to encourage one another, building confidence, resilience and a strong sense of belonging within our school family.
Inspire
We believe that learning is at its most powerful when children are inspired. Our staff strive to create engaging, meaningful learning experiences that spark curiosity and enthusiasm. Children are encouraged to inspire one another through their ideas, creativity and leadership, and we celebrate moments when pupils shine as role models within our community.
Achieve
Through respect, encouragement and inspiration, children are supported to achieve their full potential. We recognise that achievement looks different for every child and aim to provide “something for everyone”. By celebrating successes – both big and small – we nurture self‑esteem, resilience and a love of learning that prepares children for life beyond primary school.
Worship, Reflection and Pupil Voice
Our Christian distinctiveness is lived and celebrated through daily collective worship, which provides time for reflection, prayer and singing. Our academy hymn, “This Little Light of Mine”, reflects our vision and is a joyful reminder of our shared values.
Our Collective Worship Team, made up of Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, plays a key role in planning and leading worship. This empowers our pupils to develop confidence, leadership and a deep understanding of faith, while helping our whole school community to pause, reflect and grow spiritually.
We are also supported by our wider church community. Our Open the Book team visit the school each term, sharing Bible stories through engaging drama and storytelling that bring Christian messages to life for the children. In addition, Reverend John regularly visits the school to lead and support collective worship, helping to strengthen our children’s understanding of faith, reflection and community. These valued partnerships enrich our worship and help nurture the spiritual life of our school.
