School Uniform

Uniform is an important part of a school’s identity. It reinforces who we are as a community and helps to allow students to feel pride in their school. It also helps prepare students for life after school where many will have to dress smartly for work. Therefore, the wearing of school uniform is actively encouraged.

The school colour is royal blue. School sweatshirts/cardigans and T-shirts bearing the school logo can be purchased from Gooch Sports & Leisure, 2 Church Street, Newent, Gloucester, GL18 1PP – Telephone Number: 01531 821084 – Email: goochsports@btconnect.com .

Boys should wear grey trousers or grey shorts and girls grey skirts, tunics or uniform grey trousers. In summer, girls may wear blue and white gingham dresses. Sensible shoes should be worn, not boots or trainers, and sensible summer sandals (blue or white).

PE clothing for boys and girls is plain navy shorts, navy jogging bottoms (no leggings) royal blue school T-shirts and trainers. Children wear their PE kit into school on their designated PE days. Swimming kit is a one-piece costume (not a bikini) and swimming trunks/shorts (no Bermuda or long beach shorts please).

All pupils in Years 3-6 will ideally need to keep a second pair of ‘outdoor trainers’ in their school locker, in a drawstring bag, which they can change into to play on the field at break and lunchtime.

All clothing must be labelled. Please contact our PTFA for good, quality second hand uniform.

JEWELLERY, NAIL VARNISH & HAIR STYLES - Please monitor watches your children wear to school as items very easily get lost and are hard to find. Watches, of course, are worn at your own child’s risk and the school can take no responsibility for loss or damage. Earrings and other jewellery should never be worn at school for health and safety reasons. Children should have neat conventional hairstyles and long hair must be tied back for PE and swimming. No nail varnish should be worn to school. Please no transfer tattoos.

ART APRONS - It is necessary to protect children’s clothing in art lessons. An adapted shirt, t-shirt or apron/overall is needed which can be sent in at the start of the year. Please provide this for your child as paints and glue can be difficult to remove from their clothes.

LOST PROPERTY - We teach children to take care of their belongings. We do our best to locate and return missing clothing, but please would you ensure that EVERY item of clothing your child brings to school is clearly named so it can easily be returned to its owner.

Lost Property is handed back to pupils when found.
